Notes: "Three Lions" was the official anthem of the England football team in the 1996 European Championships, held in England. The music was written by Ian Broudie and performed by his band The Lightning Seeds, with lyrics by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner. The song was a huge success, a #1 single in the UK and a regular football terrace chant for years after, capturing a very English attitude to the national team, an ambivalence of pessimism and hope. A second version was released for the World Cup in 1998, and again made #1. This latter version was re-released for the World Cups of 2002 (making #16 in the UK singles chart) and 2006 (#9).

This new version, for the 2010 World Cup, differs most notably in the intro and outro by operatic soprano Olivia Safe, while guests include Robbie Williams (both Williams and Safe have worked with Horn before) and comedian (and Katy Perry's fiancé) Russell Brand. It entered the UK singles chart at #21. The song is also included on the compilation album, England - The Album 2010. (HP, 26 May 10)
