Notes: (****) Anderson, Stolt, Brislin, Reingold and Gildenlöw were all on Invention of Knowledge by Anderson/Stolt. Stolt and Reingold have long been in The Flower Kings together. Reingold has also worked with Steve Hackett and The Syn. Gildenlöw is best known from Pain of Salvation, but has also worked with The Flower Kings and Transatlantic, both with Stolt. Minnemann has worked with Tony Levin, Eddie Jobson and Steven Wilson, among many others. Anderson guests on 1 song of the new album, but just backing vocals. Blink and you'd miss him. Also guesting are Jordan Rudess (who was in Levin Minnemann Rudess), who they had originally hoped to be more involved, and Rob Townsend (works with Steve Hackett).

The album was written by the band and initial recording sessions were in London in Sep 2017. The songwriting began with Stolt and Reingold exchanging ideas remotely, a process then joined by Brislin, Minnemann and Gildenlöw. Stolt and Brislin sany lead on many of the demos. Recording continued into early 2018, with McPherson then joining; he is with the band for 2017 live dates on vocals/guitar, substituting for Gildenlöw who has other commitments. The album was released 22 Jun 2018 with live dates in Jul, including 14 Jul 2018 at the Night of the Prog festival, Loreley, Germany with Pete Trewavas (of Marillion and Transatlantic) subbing for Reingold, who was otherwise committed, and on the Cruise to the Edge 2019. In a May 2018 interview, Stolt said they were considering a second album based around an expected core of Stolt, McPherson, Reingold, Brislin and Minnemann, with Gildenlöw possibly just guesting.

(1) was the debut digital-only single. (4) was written by Minnemann having originally been planned for a solo album of his.

Sonically, there's a moment in (7) that is very reminiscent of Invention of Knowledge, but the album is generally a bit heavier and more focused. (HP, 1 Jul 18).
